Chinese Consulate General in Laoag Hosts a R

The Chinese Consulate in Laoag hosted a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on September 19, 2026.

Nearly 400 people attended, including Kalinga Vice Governor Dave Odiem, Mountain Province Vice Governor Jose Dominguez, Benguet Vice Governor Marie Rose Fongwan-Kepes, former Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Amb. Alejandrino Vicente, and other officials and friends from various sectors in Northern Luzon, as well as representatives of overseas Chinese, Filipino-Chinese community, Chinese-funded enterprises, Confucius Institutes and Chinese overseas students.

In her address, Consul & Head of Post Li Xiaoyan reviewed the tremendous development achievements made over the 105 years since the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 77 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. She said the Consulate is willing to continue working with all sectors in Northern Luzon to promote deeper and more sound development of local exchanges and cooperation between China and the Philippines.

VG Odiem, VG Dominguez and others warmly congratulated the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and spoke highly of China’s positive contributions to promoting regional stability and global development. Dr. Shirley Agrupis, Chairperson of the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED), extended congratulations via video. Mr. George Chua Cham, representative of the overseas Chinese & Filipino-Chinese community, also delivered remarks, wishing China prosperity and peace.

The reception was lively, with wonderful performances by the Confucius Classroom of Paoay National High School and Mariano Marcos State University.
